Moved to Tumblr
Just a quick update, mostly for RSS subscribers who just received a flood of new posts (sorry about that, I hate it, too, when someone’s feed is reset).
I decided to move my blog over to Tumblr for a couple of reasons:
- I like the convenience of posting to Tumblr using the iPhone app and browser bookmarklet. Most of the time I don’t want to write something new, I just want to quickly share something that I think is inspiring, interesting or beautiful.
- After having my Wordpress install compromised earlier this year and general disappointment in the constant updates I have to keep up with I decided that Wordpress wasn’t for me anymore. It’s a great system and I’d still recommend it for lots of sites, just not this one.
I made a static version of my entire Wordpress archives so I can kill the install and redirect my site index here now. You can still find the old stuff if you know the URLs or follow a link, but as far as I’m concerned that stuff is dead. You can dig it up in the Google graveyard if you want, but I’m done with it. If it weren’t for a few pieces that are heavily linked, I’d have dumped it all.
I’ve had this Tumblr account for awhile but just recently started actively posting. This move is really about the posting tools so I wanted to use it for awhile and make sure that was why I wanted to use this. It is. I’m definitely more excited about posting again.
The design… not much to say. It’s typically minimal. I focused on the type and display of content. I’m sure I’ll improve it later, but for now it’s good enough to go forward. I spent a couple of evenings playing with some of the new responsive design techniques — so it was worth it for that alone.
So, I hope you like, I hope you stick around, and I hope you’re inspired.
